This fall, the Ann Arbor Grail Singers will be performing a program of music by English, French, and American composers. This program juxtaposes English choral music of the Renaissance with the medieval-era music of the Notre Dame school of polyphony, putting early English and French choral styles in dialogue with one another. Exact repertoire includes:
- John Dunstable, Magnificat
- John Taverner, Missa Playnsong
- Pérotin, Sederunt Principes
- the premiere of works by Nora Farley with text from the Sappho fragments
- a selection of Gregorian chants dedicated to holy women
The Grail Singers are also presenting the sacred works from this program at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish (2250 E Stadium Blvd, Ann Arbor), as part of the Tapestry of Promise Catholic Conference.
