2024–2025 Season

why:eternity

Our thirtieth-anniversary program juxtaposed works by Maddalena Casulana and David Lang with Palestrina’s setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah, and the Gregorian Reproaches. This program examines the concept of eternity and its implications for finite beings. Published in 1570, Casulana’s madrigals were among the first volumes of music by a female composer. We performed the Lamentations of Jeremiah in the 500th anniversary year of Palestrina’s birth. The 9th-century Gregorian Reproaches, also called Improperia, are a series of antiphons and responses in chant, sung on Good Friday.

Our season concluded with concerts and a CD recording session in May 2025.
